SYLVIA SPYRATOU
The Three Sisters
by Anton Chekhov
Royal Court Theatre, London
October 2016
Speculative project for UAL
The Three Sisters in one of Chekhov's major plays and it's a story about the unfulfilled dreams of three sisters of going to Moscow and change their lives. Masha, Olga and Irina seem like they existed forever with the same routine everyday and remained in their house, rooted in a city that they thought they hated as the rest of the world kept moving.
The installation on stage is my visualisation of the core idea of the story and the project is crucially based on the actors and the dynamic of their bodies and their presence.
